[1] The following relates the farewell visit of the Austrian ambassador× to the munificent grand mufti. On Thursday, the day after the banquet [organized by the grand vizier], the ambassador× visited, for a farewell, the house of his excellency the munificent chief müfti×. The ambassador× was brought to the inside of the garden to the pavilion, where there was a fountain inside and he was offered a stool to sit on. When his excellency the grand mufti× arrived at the location, the ambassador× rose to his feet and the grand mufti× sat on his seat. Sweets and coffee were served. Following a half-hour long conversation, sherbet and frankincense were served, after which the ambassador× bid farewell and left. His excellency the chief mufti× did not present any gifts to the ambassador×.
