Object:Studio portrait of three women in folk attire
Description:Full length shot of a three young women standing next to a fake fountain on which a pitcher has been placed. All of them are wearing traditional attire and they are richly adorned with necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and flowers in their hair. The woman in the middle is wearing a belt with metal buckles and she is holding a basket in her left hand. The woman on the left, depicted in profile, is presenting the strings of coins decorating her hair. A painted canvas backdrop is creating the illusion of the scene being set in nature.
Comment:Given title by the Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art: "Bulgarische Mädchen" (Bulgarian girls). The young women and the decor are the same as in VASE.00451. The decor is identical with that in VASE.00961, which makes it possible to date the photograph and identify the photographer.
