Comment: | Léandre François René le Gay was a French diplomat, Vice Consul in Sofia at the time of the Bulgarian anti-Ottoman April Uprising of 1876 and during the Russo-Ottoman War (1877 - 1878). The town council appointed him honorary citizen of Sofia in 1878 and named one of Sofia's most important trade at the time streets after him. Recto in the lower left corner: "Neubert" - probably the publisher. In the lower right corner: a stamp with the name of the photographer. |
