Description:Half length shot of an elderly man in an Orthodox priest garb.
Comment:Neofit Rilski or Neophyte of Rila (1793 - 1881), born Nikola Poppetrov Benin, was a monk, teacher and artist, and an important figure of the Bulgarian National Revival. The photograph was taken earlier - before 1881, and mounted later on a card - after 1888, by the court photographer Ivan Karastoyanov in Sofia.
