The painting by the Polish painter Antoni Piotrowski (1853 – 1924) depicts the battle of Slivnitsa as a influential in the victory of the Bulgarian Army in the Serbo-Bulgarian War in 1885, solidifying the unification between the Kingdom of Bulgaria and the semi-autonomous Ottoman province of Eastern Rumelia (6 September 1885).
