Object:Studio portrait of Petar Gruev
Description:Full length shot of a man in military uniform with insignias of honour. He is carrying a sword on which he has placed his left hand. His right hand is resting on a light-coloured fur cap which has been placed on a small round wooden table. Painted canvas backdrop with illusionistic architecture. Recto: autograph in Cyrillic and in Latin letters.
Comment:Petar Dimitrov Gruev (1855 - 1942) was an officer and military engineer, who fought in the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877 - 1878, and in the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885. Petar Gruev made the rank of major in the Bulgarian army, and became Russian lieutenant general.
