Object:Stefan Stambolov's children
Description:Full length studio portrait of three children, one girl and two boys. All of them are wearing sailor suits.
Comment:Vera (~ 1890 - 1941), Konstantin (~ 1892 - 1969), and Stefan (Asen) Stambolov (1894 - 1972) were children of Stefan Stambolov. Stefan Stambolov (1854 - 1895) was a Bulgarian politician, a deputy at the Bulgarian Founding Assembly of 1879, Vice Chairman and later Chairman of the Bulgarian Parliament. In 1886 Stambolov became Regent until the proclamation of Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha as Knyaz of the autonomous Principality of Bulgaria in 1887. He was also Prime Minister for seven years (1887 - 1894). Stambolov was assassinated in July 1895. Photographs VASE.0091 and VASE.0092 are identical. They were mounted on different pieces of cardboard by the photographer brothers Ivan and Dimitar Karastoyanov.
