When the revolt was crushed, Dimitar Todorov Dimitroto was arrested, yet his death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. Hristo Botev (Botyov) Petkov (1848 - 1876) was a Bulgarian poet and national revolutionary, who died in a uprising against the Ottoman rule in 1876.
