Comment: | During the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877 - 1878, Shipka Peak in Stara planina was the site of a series of armed conflicts, collectively referred to as "The Battle of Shipka Pass", between the Russians (aided by Bulgarian volunteers) and the Ottoman Empire.
