Comment: | Branislav Nušić, born Alkibijad Nuša (1864, Belgrade – 1938), son of Đorđe Nuša, was a Serbian novelist of Aromanian (Cincar) descent, playwright, satirist, essayist and founder of modern rhetoric in Serbia. He graduated from the University of Belgrade's Law School and also worked as a journalist and a civil servant. Shortly after being appointed the secretary of Ministry of Education in 1900, Nušić became head dramaturgist of the National Theatre in Belgrade and was later appointed a head of the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad and of the National Theater in Sarajevo. In 1913, he founded a theater in Skopje and was appointed first head of the Art Department of the Ministry of Education after WWI. |
