Object: | Portrait of Zorka Vlajić |
---|---|
Description: | Half-length portrait of a woman in a dark, high-necked dress. She is standing next to a padded armchair, resting her left arm on its backrest. She is holding a pair of gloves in front of her. |
Comment: | In 1919 Zorka Vlajić, née Milojković, became president of the Maternity Association, founded in 1904. Her son Božidar Vlajić (1888–1974) became a famous politician (member of the Yugoslav Democratic Party) in interwar Yugoslavia. After WWII he remained in Great Britain as an emigrant (the Communist Party that came to power banned the Democratic Party; its members were persecuted). He was one of the founders of the "Democratic Alternative". Zorka Vlajić's daughter, Lujka Vlajić, married Agostin (Ago) Bukovac, the son of the famous Croatian realist painter Vlaho Bukovac (1855, Cavtat–1922, Prague). | Relations: | /o:vase.1082 /o:vase.1046 /o:vase.1085 |
