Comment:Alexander Joseph, Prince of Bulgaria, also known as Alexander of Battenberg (1857, Verona – 1893, Graz), was the son of Prince Alexander of Hesse and by Rhine (1823–1888) and Countess Julia von Hauke (1825–1885). He was also the nephew of Russia's Tsar Alexander II. He was the first prince of the autonomous principality of Bulgaria under Ottoman suzerainty. He reigned from 1879 until 1886. Photograph kept in Anastas Jovanović's album.
