Roma man with Sarajevo panorama

Description:Roma man against a spectacular view of Sarajevo from the east. He is posing on the right margin of the landscape photograph, presenting the city with a large smile. He is dressed in a padded jacket, over it a jelek, an ahmedija on his head and a belt with a leather bensilah around his waist. In his right hand he is holding a bottle, his left rests on his hip. The shot of Sarajevo unfolding to his right is carefully geometrically arranged: The kafana on Babića bašča, Šabanova Kafana in Bentbaša and the Vijećnica form a triangle. The bridge in Bentbaša and the path leading up to Babića bašča are at the same angle and meet exactly in the centre of the lower frame. Next to the Vijećnica, the regulated part of the Miljacka is visible almost at a right angle to the Bentbaša section in the foreground.
Comment:The photograph was probably taken on the way up to Žuta tabija. Analogue photographic process, negative-positive (Agfa Isopan 17 DIN). Original preserved as a positive on silver bromine paper, stored as a print and a digital record.
