Object:Day labourers at Sebilj Fountain I
Description:Two men are sitting by the Sebilj fountain in Baščaršija. An old, stooped, white-bearded Muslim in dirty, ripped čakšire, shirt, opanci, a leather belt and an untidy ahmedija, is sitting on the stone bench looking straight into the camera. He holds a stick in his left hand. In front of him, slightly to his right, a Muslim day labourer (težak) in traditional garb is squatting on the curbstone. His face is in profile, since he is watching something to his right. His face and moustache look carefully shaven, but his fes is as unshapely as his clothes. In the background in the upper left corner, a younger man in a fes and a long, striped apron descends from the fountain's water tap, turning his back to the camera.
Comment:The man in the foreground is probably not from Sarajevo. The man in the apron is a waiter from a nearby kafana. Analogue photographic process, negative-positive (Agfa Isopan 17 DIN). Original preserved as a negative and positive on silver bromine paper, stored as a print, negative and digital record.
