Object:Film set of 'Za čast otadžbine' in Kalemegdan
Description:Picture of an outdoor film shoot in Kalemegdan. In the foreground, four soldiers in the pre-war uniforms of the Serbian Kingdom are lying on a slope with a machine gun positioned in front of them. A camera is directed on them from the background, operated by a dark-haired man in a suit. The scene is being watched by two other men standing next to the cameraman, one in a hat and a long dark coat, the other in an officer's uniform. More soldiers are seen lying on the ground in the background.
Comment:The photograph was published as part of a report in the newspaper Vreme on the shooting of the first Yugoslav war movie 'Za čast otadžbine' (For the Honour of the Fatherland) about the defence of Belgrade and its fortress against Austrian attack in 1914–15, at the beginning of World War I. The film was directed by Stanislav Krakow, a writer and editor with Vreme, who also operated the camera.
