Audience at the Twelfth Congress of the International Alliance of Women (IAW) in Istanbul

Description:In a large lecture hall, a predominantly female audience of various ages is listening attentively. The women are dressed in an elegant manner. Around half are wearing headgear. In the first row, the spectators have papers and notebooks in front of them.
Comment:The photograph was taken in the context of the Twelfth Congress of the International Alliance of Women for Suffrage and Equal Citizenship (IAW), which took place in Yıldız Palace in Istanbul from 18 to 25 April 1935. More than two hundred delegates from over thirty countries attended the congress.
