| Comment: | The photograph was taken in the context of the Twelfth Congress of the International Alliance of Women for Suffrage and Equal Citizenship (IAW), which took place in Yıldız Palace in Istanbul from 18 to 25 April 1935. More than two hundred delegates from over thirty countries attended the congress. The tall lady in the centre foreground is probably the organization's president at the time, Margery Corbett Ashby. |
