Object:Aviation Club ready for the Day of the Republic parade
Description:A richly decorated lorry is parked in front of a stately building that is flying the Turkish flag. The lorry has a plaque with the words ‘Tayyare Cemiyeti’ (Aviation Club) fixed to its engine hood and is carrying a model aeroplane. It is decorated with flower garlands. Several people are posing on and in front of the vehicle. Five girls in white dresses are on the truck bed: three are leaning against the model aeroplane and two are sitting on the rear section. A man in uniform is sitting in the co-driver's seat. Two men in suits, one of them holding a hat with a broad brim and a walking stick in his hands, stand proudly in front of the vehicle. Several people look on from the sidewalk behind the lorry.
Comment:The Turkish Aviation Club was founded in 1925 with the name ‘Tayyare Cemiyeti’. It was renamed ‘Türk Hava Kurumu’ in 1935. The lorry was to participate in the parade on the occasion of Cumhuriyet Bayramı. The building in the background is the location of the Aviation Club headquarters.
