Object:Beer drinkers at a banquet table
Description:Group portrait of twenty men of various ages posing behind a banquet table, cheering. They are dressed for a festive occasion, mostly in suits and ties; two have a flower in their buttonholes. They are all either holding a glass of beer in their hands or have a glass on the table in front of them. The table is covered with a white cloth and set with meze dishes and bread, bottles of wine and water, and a few wine glasses. The men sitting on the left of the table have moved to stand behind their colleagues on the right side. The man standing in the centre in a striped shirt and bow tie is swinging his beer glass high in the air and smiling.
Comment:The relatively minor difference in age, the exlusively male character of the group and the men’s similar outfits suggest that they are work colleagues, possibly state officials. The man in the white jacket on the left and the person next to him without a jacket are probably restaurant employees.
