Object:Military funeral procession in İstiklal Street
Description:A military funeral procession is moving down İstiklal Caddesi from Taksim Square, watched by numerous bystanders. The photographer observes the scene from above and has focused on a long series of wreaths, each carried by two men. Rows of mostly uniformed men are escorting the wreaths. Nine men in elegant civilian suits, some of them with walking sticks, are leading the procession (at least in the section captured here).
Comment:The photographer probably took the picture from the roof of a tram, since his position is exactly above the tram rails. The number of participants and the amount of wreaths indicates the prominent position of the deceased.
