Street scene in Aksaray

Description:A tram is travelling down the tracks in front of the Pertevniyal Valide Sultan Mosque, followed by a car. Pedestrians are walking the road on both sides. To the left, the road stops short and the cobblestones give way to a plain field. A pile of cobblestones and some loose ones mark this area as a construction site. To the right, a woman is opening a shop window in a two-storey building. She and the man next to her look in the direction of the camera.
Comment:The photograph accompanied an article in Cumhuriyet with the title, ‘Who is responsible for the tram accident?’, reflecting on an accident that took place on the same street two days earlier. An almost identical picture, taken only seconds later from the same angle, appeard in Son Saat the day before.
