[POST CARD---GREAT BRITAN & IRELAND; LONDON S.W. MY 12 84]

Yours of April 26. I know nothing of „Fox or Cox Ensanos or Ensinos“ (Burnell is dead)1 – nor do I know anything of F Marryatt, „Guar“:2 - The Report is of the Moslem, or Mahometan Mission to the Malays+ in the Cape of Good Hope: we have very little information about them. Dr Büttner3 of the Rheinish Mission of Barmen is now in Germany: no new books have appeared lately

+ (von anderer Hand / Schuchardt (?): „bezieht sich auf Dr Fox, Malay Patois / Report of the Moslem Mission“)4

1 Arthur Burnell (1840-1882), Sanskritist; vgl. HSA 01466-01468.

2 Gem. ist wohl Frederick Marryat (1792-1848), in Deutschland bekannt durch seinen Roman Sigismund Rüstig (Original: Masterman Ready). Bed. von „Guar“ nicht geklärt.

3 Carl Gotthilf Büttner (1848-1893), deutscher protest. Missionar u. Sprachwissenschaftler; vgl. HSA 01463.

4 Es gibt einen Bibliotheksnachweis: Report of the Moslem Mission Society, for … 1862. Second Edition (The Moslem Mission Society, with a short account of the remarkable opening of ist operations among the Bedouin Tribes, recently settled in Pashalic of Aleppo), London 31862.
