Dear Sir,
Many thanks for your two pamphlets on the Georgian language1, to which for some years I have given considerable attention in my spare time; and during a visit to the Caucasus in 1888 I accumulated a very fair Georgian library. There is a good deal of room for work in this field, and |2| from what I have seen of your pamphlets I perceive that you treat the subject incisively. I have got Brosset’s2 & Tsagareli’s books3 and also the dictionary of Чубинoъ4. Of course Brosset is out of date but in the dearth of grammatical works of any pretention he is occasionally useful. The verb is the great crux of |3| Georgian grammar. It always seems to me as if we hat to do with a language where the verb has hardly become differentiated clearly from the noun. But I shall go through your remarks carefully, as soon as I have leisure and will insert a notice in one of our literary journals, as soon as possible. Of this I will |4| send you a copy and remain with thanks.
