The language spoken by the Negroes in British Honduras is Patois English of the kind spoken in the English West India Islands, & upon the Mosquito Coast.

There are also many inhabitants, labourers & others, who are either Natives of Mexico, or their descendants; and these speak either Spanish patois, Maya, or a |2| mixture of the two.
