Comment:Yılmaz Güney (1937–1984) and his work were almost entirely unknown outside his homeland Turkey until his escape from prison in 1981 and the ‘discovery’ of the film ‘Yol’ (The way) in the following year at the Cannes Film Festival based on his autobiographical screenplay. ‘At avrat silah’ was released in 1966.
