Object:Advertisement for the feature film ‘Chetvyortyy periskop’
Description:The leaflet features a graphic illustration showing two men in the foreground wearing sailor hats and dark uniforms. They are about the same age and size and are smiling at each other. In the background, a sailor and a woman can be seen. The lines below the image announce the ‘Soviet film’ with the title ‘The fourth periscope’, translated from the Russian original ‘Четвёртый перископ’ into Serbo-Croatian as ‘Četvrti periskop’.
Comment:The illustration (probably a screen print) is in the style of Socialist Realism – the only style of realistic art permitted in the Soviet Union at that time. The film was directed by Виктор Эйсимонт (Viktor Eisymont) and released in 1939.
