Business Accounts of the monastery Santi Pietro e Sebastiano in Naples from the year 1485

The Salamanca Company was from Burgos, Northern Spain, one of the main centers of commercial networks stretching through Europe, Mediterranean and New World. Merchants of Burgos expanded their activities from exporting sheep fleece to financial services such as foreign remittance. Books were created with double entry method and found in a judiciary section of the Provincial Archive of Burgos.

A digital edition of a late medieval account book (1477-1484) from the Dominican monastery of SS. Pietro and Sebastiano in Naples, containing financial records of income and expenditure. The original manuscript (220×150mm) consists of 216 paper pages written in minuscola corsiva script by 17 different hands, including female scribes, documenting the monastery's economic activities. This edition is part of a broader digital humanities project on 15th-century monastic accounting in Naples.

George Washington kept a variety of business and household accounting records, including receipts, bills, invoices, waste books, journals of accounts, and ledger books of accounts. He used these to keep track of how much money he owed or was owed to him and to monitor how he spent his money. These documents provide detailed information about his financial dealings, such as earnings from shipping tobacco and other goods produced by his plantations; travel expenses to various taverns; and rent payments due from his tenants. Prices of many commodities (food, livestock, crops, household items) are recorded in these pages, as are transactions with a wide range of people, including men and women, large- and small-scale farmers, tradespeople, laborers, lawyers, businesspeople, mariners, free blacks, and enslaved people. The digital edition aims to make the business and budget files of US President George Washington accessible.

Prof. Susanna Burghartz from the University of Basel prepared an edition of the annual municipal accounts of Basel in the 16th century, which is major source for the social and economic history of the town. In cooperataion with the ZIM the project created a semantically enriched edition following the research result of Georg Vogeler on the digital edition of medieval and early modern accounting. The edition allows to access the accounts as texts and as numerical data as well.

The collection consists primarily of materials generated or collected by the central administrative office of Hull House Association and documents the history, leadership, activities, and mission of the organization. It also includes materials relating to the affiliates and the administrative records from two affiliate centers: the Jane Addams Center and the Uptown Center. The materials in the collection span the years from 1889 to 1999, but the bulk of material is from approximately 1963 to 1979. This collection consists of a log of donations made to Hull-House in 1895 and a log of donors from 1896, both are part of a longer log book.

The collection of inventories produced by an office of the Florentine state, called the Magistrati dei Pupilli. This office created in the late 14th century at the request of Florentine families. Due primarily to recurrent plague in Florence starting in mid-14th century families were unable to manage the wealthy estates of their minor relatives, who had inherited considerable assets upon the death of their benefactors. Families asked the state to take over. When the Office of Orphans took on the management of a minor’s estate, a packet of documents was created to record actions taken on the minor’s behalf.

The Cameron Family Papers are held at the Southern History Collection at UNC, and incldue substantial business records. Some of these record transactions between the plantation store and members of the community. Of particular interest to this conference is the "slave ledger"; a separate account book recording transactions between the Cameron store and and enslaved customers.

The Tax Rolls of Medieval Paris is a TEI (Text Encoding Initiative)-based digital edition of the seven extant tax rolls from the tailles levied on the city of Paris by Philip the Fair between 1292 and 1313. These documents provide a wealth of information about the individual people, demographics, and history of the city.

Business Accounts of the steel, engineering and cement business of Thomas William Ward. In 1894, as part of the scrap metal operation, Ward's began to set up substantial shipbreaking yards in different parts of England, and in Scotland and Wales. By 1953, Thos. W. Ward employed 11,500 people.
