Object:Group portrait of three men
Description:Full length shot of three men wearing suits. Two are seated while the third one is standing between them. He is resting his right elbow on the backrest of an armchair. A painted canvas backdrop is creating the illusion of the scene being set in a lounge.
Comment:In the center: Ivan Nikolov Batsarov (1866 - 1951), a Bulgarian officer and medical doctor, educated in Zurich and Paris. He was the head of the Anti-Plague Institut, established in 1902 (as of 1908 Institute of Bacteriology). Ivan Batsarov participated in the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885 as a Red Cross volunteer and became head of the Sanitary Health Service of the Ministry of War (1914 - 1920). He became a major general in 1917.
