Description:Full length shot of a man in folk costume with military elements, medals, a knife and a pistol in his belt, holding a long rifle. He is seated on artificial rocks, and next to him there is a dog sitting. Painted canvas backdrop, which creates the illusion of the scene being set in nature.
Comment:Konstantin (Kosta) Atanasov Panitsa (1857 - 1890) was a Bulgarian volunteer (opaltchenets) in the Serbo-Ottoman War of 1876 and in the Russo-Ottoman war 1877 - 1878, and an Officer. Panitsa was sentenced to death and executed in 1890 because of a charge of conspiracy against Prince Ferdinand I. and Prime Minister St. Stambolov.
