Description:Vignetted half length shot of a woman in a light urban dress, holding an infant also in a light dress. Verso: hand-written date and dedication in Bulgarian: "To Stefan and Polikseni from Mara and Atanas. Sofia 21.05. 1889."
Comment:Mara Stambolova-Mutkurova was Stefan Stambolov's sister and Sava Mutkurov's wife. Stefan Stambolov (1854 - 1895) was a Bulgarian politician, Prime Minister of Bulgaria 1887 - 1894. Sava Mutkurov (1852 - 1891) was a Bulgarian officer (Major General) and politician, who served as one of the Regents of the Principality of Bulgaria after Prince Alexander of Battenberg's abdication (1886 – 1887), and Minister of War in Stefan Stambolov's government (1887 – 1891).
