Comment:King Boris III, Bulgarian officers and priests at a military tattoo. St. George's Day (23 April in the Julian calendar, which corresponds to 6 May in the Gregorian calendar) is the day of the Bulgarian Army, made official by a decree of Knyaz Alexander of Bulgaria on 9 January 1880. Parades are organized in the capital Sofia to present the best of the army's equipment and manpower.
