Description:Outdoor group photograph of twelve men in urban clothes. The men are sitting and standing beneath a canopy made of wood and leaves. There are three more men wearing rural clothes and hats [turbans] behind as well as to the left and to the right of the group.
Comment:Gavril Kazarov with students at an archaeological excavation in Aboba (contemporary Pliska). Gavril Katsarov (1874 - 1958) was a Bulgarian scholar, historian and archaeologist, Rector of the University of Sofia (1927 - 1928) and director of the Archaeological Museum in Sofia (1929 - 1930, 1940). He was a member of the Bulgarian Literary Society (renamed "Bulgarian Academy of Sciences" in 1911), the Academy of Sciences of Romania (1936), and of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (1939).
