Comment:During the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877 - 1878, the Shipka Peak in Stara planina was the scene of a series of conflicts, collectively named the "Battle of the Shipka Pass", fought between the Russians, aided by Bulgarian volunteers, and the Ottoman Empire. The historical re-enactment of the Battles was on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Russo-Ottoman War.
