Comment:During the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877 - 1878, Shipka Peak in Stara planina was the site of a series of armed conflicts, collectively referred to as "The Battle of Shipka Pass", between the Russians (aided by Bulgarian volunteers) and the Ottoman Empire. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Russo-Ottoman War a historical re-enactment of the battles took place.
