Description:Full length shot of an elderly man wearing a military uniform with insignias of honour and a fur cap. He is holding a rifle with the bayonet attached in his right hand. A wreath of flowers has been slipped over the rifle. A painted canvas backdrop is creating the illusion of the scene being set in nature.
Comment:Nikola Korchev (1836 - 1921) was a opalchenets-pobornik, meaning "volunteer combatant", in the Russo-Ottoman War of 1877 – 1878. He was honoured for saving the Samara flag.
