Description:Full-length shot of a woman dressed in a dark, floor-length evening gown with large puffed sleeves. She is standing on a pedestal and resting her arms on the backrest of a padded chair in front of her. A painted canvas backdrop is creating the impression of the scene being set in a drawing room.
Comment:Julka Jovanović (1846–1939), née Stepić, was married to Toša Jovanović (VASE.01348), who was one of the greatest Serbian theatre talents of the 19th century. Her father, Paja Stepić, was a theatre prompter, and Julka became an actress herself.
