Description: | Full-length shot of a couple. A wooden fence and a painted canvas backdrop are creating the impression of the scene being set outdoors. The woman is standing behind the fence, resting her hands on it. She is wearing a dark, floor-length dress and holding a pair of gloves in her right hand. A parasol is leaning against the fence in front of her. The man is dressed in a dark suit with a light-coloured necktie. He is holding a top hat and a pair of gloves in his left hand. |

Comment: | Julka Jovanović, née Žikić, was married to Dragutin Jovanović Guta, the owner of a renowned travelling theatre. He was one of the founders of the National Theatre in Niš in 1887 (with Mihailo Dimić). Julka was an actress herself. She later suffered hearing loss. The photograph was a gift of Julka's to her mother and her siblings. |
