Comment: | The family name of the man in the photograph is indecipherable which is why it is given in its abbreviated form only. Photograph kept in photo album no. 22369, which belonged to the Zorić family. Svetozar Zorić (1853, Titel–1931, Belgrade) studied mechanical engineering and worked in Western Europe before returning to Serbia, where he became an Honorary Professor at the Technical University of Belgrade after working for the national railway company. He was very much interested in painting and encouraged his niece Nadežda Petrović and his daughter Milica Zorić in their artistic ambitions. Both became very famous artists. The photograph was a gift to his uncle Zorić (Svetozar) and his aunt Dara (Darinka). |
