Object:Studio portrait of the sisters Nasta and Ljubica Hristić
Description:Full-length shot of two young women dressed in matching, ornamented, floor-length dresses. Props in the studio and a painted canvas backdrop are creating the impression of the scene being set on a cliff by the sea. The older girl is sitting on a chair in front of a wooden fence behind which the other girl is standing, having placed her left hand on the seated girl's left shoulder. The girl standing is holding a straw hat decorated with flowers in her right hand.
Comment:Probably granddaughters of Nikola Hristić and his wife Juliana, née Hadži-Jovanović, who was a descendant of Toma Vučić-Perišić. Nikola Hristić (1818, Sremska Mitrovica – 1911, Belgrade) was a Serbian politician and statesman and held many important public positions such as, e.g., judicial and police clerk, Mayor of the City of Belgrade, Minister of Internal Affairs and Prime Minister.
