Object:Two ladies in a garden
Description:Portrait of two young Bosniak ladies posing amidst flowers in a suburban mahalla. They are dressed in patterned European gowns with bows in a contrast colour, and hold identical white clutch bags in their left hands. They both have modern short Bubikopf haircuts. The lady to the right has her right hand around the other’s shoulders. A wooden fence visible to the right marks the limits of the garden. In the background is a view of the suburbs, meadows and hills of the surroundings of Sarajevo.
Comment:The modern, unveiled, short-sleeved appearance of the two ladies (hanume) was quite revolutionary at the time. Analogue photographic process, negative-positive (Agfa Isopan 17 DIN). Original preserved as a negative and positive on silver bromine paper, stored in the form of a negative, print and digital record.
