Object:Sheep and three lambs near the Egyptian Bazaar
Description:A man in a flat cap, dark coat and worn-out shoes is carrying two lambs, one white and one dark, over a large square. In front of him, a woman poorly dressed in a coat, long skirt, wollen pullover and a loosely knotted headscarf, is dragging a white sheep on a leash, looking down. To her right, a second woman in similar clothes is holding another lamb on her arm. She and the man look towards the camera. Behind this group, crossing the square in the same direction, are a lady in a fur coat, an elegantly dressed African man and a poorly dressed man holding a large fish.
Comment:The picture was shot in the area of Mısır Çarşısı, most probably for Kurban bayramı. Preparations for this religious holiday and the start of festivities were reported in short articles and pictures that sometimes reappeared a year or two later on the same or similar occasions.
