Object:A field hockey game in Fenerbahçe Stadium
Description:Three field hockey players are in action in Fener stadı, Kadıköy, all of them wearing white jerseys, white shorts and black socks. Two players are fighting for the ball while a third player is close behind, ready to intercept it. The pitch is not an even lawn – it is damaged and interspersed with either sand or bare soil. A white pavillon stands on the sideline in the background.
Comment:Field hockey was introduced to the Ottoman Empire by the British, who organized a first match in Kadıköy in 1910. During World War I, Fenerbahçe Kulübü was among the first clubs to popularize hockey within the Ottoman Empire and later in the Turkish Republic.
