Object:Ramadan drummer on a square
Description:A Ramadan drummer in breeches, wearing a patterned sweater under his jacket and a flat cap, is playing a large davul on a cobbled square. He is followed by a crowd of children of various ages. Some are watching him, while others are looking in the photographer’s direction. Passers-by watch the scene from the background.
Comment:Photographs of Ramadan musicians were often printed on the first day of Ramadan celebrations. Ramadan drummers traditionally walk the streets to wake up the inhabitants in time for sahur, the last meal before sunrise and a day of fasting.
