Location | Celje (Cilli) |
Description | Tinted drawing of the Slovene flag with a parorama of Celje, an image of the Narodni Dom, and a drawing of an eagle holding a shield, which are symbols of the Sokol movement in Slovenia. |
Comment | The sender included the Slavic salute Na zdar!, the ritualized salutation of the Sokol movement. Following the Czech example of the Sokol movement, a Slovene nationalist gymnastic association called Južni Sokol [Southern Falcon] was founded in 1863. A network of local Sokol chapters then spread throughout what was considered Slovene territory in Cisleithania, the Austrian part of the empire. |
