Object:The ‘Tomorri’ cinema in Tirana
Description:The picture shows the exterior of the ‘Tomorri’ cinema in Tirana in approximately 1940. The cinema is decorated with two flags. There are soldiers standing in front. A man getting out of a car with the registration number ‘Tiranë 1028’ is saluted by one of the soldiers. Two men in ceremonial uniform stand to to the right and left of the entrance. A man on the balcony observes the events. The sign above the balcony displays the name ‘Cinema Tomorri’ in Italian.
Comment:The inserted name ‘Luce’ (an Italian film and photo production company) indicates that the photograph was taken during the Italian occupation of Albania between 1939 and 1943. The flag on the left is probably the green, white and red flag of Italy with a symbol in the white field that cannot be identified.
