Object:The ‘Gloria’ cinema in Durrës
Description:The photograph shows the exterior of the ‘Gloria’ cinema in the Albanian seaport of Durrës in approximately 1940. The facade consists of four entrances and a canopied box office. In front of the neighbouring building, a movie is being advertised. The slogan ‘A fascist regime is a fair regime’ is displayed on the upper part of the wall.
Comment:The inserted name ‘Luce’ (an Italian film and photo production company) indicates that the photograph was taken during the Italian occupation of Albania between 1939 and 1943.
